Robin Carvell-Spedding 

General Counsel

Robin leads the Legal team at Protium and oversees all legal and governance matters relating to the company’s business. He is also Company Secretary.

Having qualified at Herbert Smith Freehills (an international law firm, headquartered in London), Robin has spent the past 20 years advising a range of energy and infrastructure clients and companies, including EdF, BG Group and BHP Billiton. He moved out of private practice in 2013 and since then has held several senior in-house legal or General Counsel roles, including with Maersk.

Robin’s career in energy has led him across the globe and he’s lived or advised on projects in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Africa, South America, the Middle East and Scandinavia, as well as the UK.

David Muckle

Chief Operating Officer

David brings over 20 years of experience as an industrial and clean energy executive, guiding global organisations through major scaling and operational transformation. Bringing deep domain expertise across general management, engineering leadership, and commercial strategy, he specialises in building high-performing teams and establishing the structures needed to turn complex operational challenges into sustainable market growth.

His career spans multi-region leadership roles across major industrial and technology businesses. Most recently, David was instrumental in building and scaling hydrogen and alternative fuels operations at Ingersoll Rand and Vontier. Known for his pragmatic, people-focused leadership style and strong analytical approach, David excels at creating clarity in dynamic environments to accelerate the deployment of green hydrogen infrastructure.

Kim McCann

Chief Commercial and Strategy Officer

Kim brings extensive experience across energy, technology, and management consulting to her role as Chief Commercial Officer at Protium. Driven by a mission to align business growth with environmental stewardship, she leads Protium’s commercial strategy, accelerating the commercialisation and deployment of green hydrogen solutions across hard-to-decarbonise industries.

With a dual background in engineering and finance, Kim excels at identifying key value levers across complex operational models. Prior to joining Protium, she served as Global Energy Advisory Director at SLR Consulting and held leadership roles at PA Consulting, including Global Head of Sustainability for Consumer & Manufacturing and Partner. Her executive tenure also includes leadership roles as Chief Operating Officer at Incremental Group and early career at Shell, establishing a strong track record of driving sustainable profitability, process optimisation, and large-scale transformation.

Kim holds that successful transition relies on bridging executive strategy with frontline execution. By fostering deep engagement across all organisational levels, she translates complex decarbonisation goals into practical, high-value commercial outcomes.

As a senior woman in energy and technology, she is a strong advocate for closing the STEM gender gap, actively mentoring the next generation of leaders to engineer a sustainable future.

Kader Hidra

Chief Financial Officer

Kader Hidra brings over 25 years of global financial leadership across capital markets, industrial energy, and cleantech execution. Prior to joining Protium, he served as CFO at Euronext-listed Hydrogen Refuelling Solutions (HRS) and CFO at Carbios, where he raised over €130m in equity and EIB debt financing. His earlier career includes leading Investor Relations at EDF Group and advising on pioneer renewable IPOs at Morgan Stanley in London. At Protium, Kader leads financial strategy, corporate finance, and capital structuring to scale Protium’s over 90 MW of UK green hydrogen pipeline and advance landmark projects, including the 15MW Cromarty Green Hydrogen Production Facility. 

Thibauld Thuillez

Board Member

Thibauld Thuillez is Investment Director within Swen Capital Partners, and holds a 15-year experience in the infrastructure and energy space as equity investor, debt provider and financial advisor. Prior to Swen’s experience he was in charge of a team dedicated to invest into environment infrastructure projects within Caisse des depots et consignations, and he spent 10 years within HSBC project finance teams in Paris, Sao Paulo and London.

He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Ecole Centrale and from Universidad Politecnica de Madrid.

Thibauld is also board member of ETFuels.

Matt Bennett

Board Member

Matt is an Investment Director at Barclays Principal Investments focused on the Barclays Climate Ventures mandate. His experience spans careers across Barclays and PwC, including deal origination, execution, investment and portfolio management responsibilities built upon a strong finance and strategic planning foundation. He acts as a board director at Protium Green Solutions and SaveMoneyCutCarbon as well as a board observer at ZeroAvia, Air Protein and Brill Power. Matt is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nottingham in Finance, Accounting & Management.

Ed Hotard

Board Member

Ed Hotard is Chairman and CEO of Texas-based SIAD Americas LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of SIAD Macchine Impianti S.p.A., the engineered equipment business of SIAD S.p.A., an Italian industrial gas company. Ed is leading the strategic entry of SIAD’s engineering business into the Americas, providing SIAD technology coupled with localized fabrication to better serve a broader set of customers. He also advises the Chairman of SIAD S.p.A. on technology, energy transition, and growth opportunities, and serves as a board advisor for PT Samator, an Indonesian industrial gases company.

Earlier in his career, Ed was President & COO of Praxair Inc. (now Linde), Chairman of Monitor Group China (now Deloitte), a venture partner at ARCH Venture Partners, an operating partner at Hao Capital (a China mid-market private equity firm), and a senior advisor to Warburg Pincus China. He established SIAD’s engineered equipment business in China and has served on the boards of twenty private and public companies in the US, Europe, and Japan, three Chinese state-owned companies, and five nonprofit and industry association boards.

David Scott

Advisory Board

David is the co-founder and Chair of Tribe Impact Capital, the UK’s first dedicated Impact Wealth Manager. He believes that investing into businesses that seek to create a positive impact for all stakeholders, including society and the environment will produce superior financial returns over the medium to long term. Prior to Tribe, he founded Vestra Wealth in 2008, growing the business from zero to £16bn of assets under management at the end of 2020, when the Liechtenstein Princely family through the LGT Group bought the remaining share in LGT Vestra.

He was previously a co-founder of Scott Goodman Harris, which he sold to UBS in 2004. He is also a serial investor into early stage start ups.

Emma Tinker

Advisory Board

Emma co-founded Asper in 2016 with Luigi and Luis, with whom she had worked at HgCapital since 2008. Emma has worked in investment since 1999 and in the energy sector since 2002. During her tenure at Hg she started the renewable energy business that eventually led to the raising of Hg’s renewable funds alongside Tom Murley in 2003. Emma is responsible for Asper’s investment strategy and is Chair of the Investment Committee. She leads the origination and strategic business planning on existing platforms and new investments. Over the years she has led and managed investments, financings and exits in different markets and technologies in the UK, Ireland, Germany, and Italy.
