Steven Poulter

Steven Poulter

Steven Poulter is Head of Principal Structuring & Investments at Barclays, is a member of Barclays Climate and Sustainable Finance Council, and Chair of Barclays’ Treasury Environmental Action Group. This broad remit allows him to help drive the green agenda through investing in equity capital of sustainability focussed companies; helping Barclays clients transition to net zero.

Steven is also a board member of BGF Group PLC, Origami Energy Limited and is Chair of SaveMoneyCutCarbon.

Steven has a degree in Economics from Queens’ College, Cambridge University, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Tax Adviser at Arthur Andersen.

Peter is a highly experienced Entrepreneur and Engineer within the energy field. He is a Founding Shareholder and Executive Board Member of Advanced Power AG (www.advancedpower.ch) a business that develops, structures and finances low carbon electricity in Europe and North America. Since its formation nearly 4,000MW of projects developed by Advanced Power have been constructed and Advanced Power continues to manage 3,000MW having raised in excess of $4bn of construction capital. During his 35 years in the power industry Peter has been involved in all aspects of the power industry including the manufacturing, development construction and operation of power plants. Peter has a deep knowledge of the European Energy system and supports conferences within this field as an Advisory Board member of the Enlit conference team and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

Patrick Molloy

Patrick Molloy

Patrick Molloy is a Senior Associate, Industry and Heavy Transport at Rocky Mountain Institute and a recognized analyst and commentator on Hydrogen applications for Heavy Industries. He has been broadly published in the clean energy media and currently co-hosts the Everything about Hydrogen podcast. Prior to working in energy Patrick worked in Irish and European politics. Olivier Aubert

Olivier Aubert

Olivier has over 24 years’ experience in the energy sector, having worked at companies including EDF, Gaz de France, ENGIE and GRTgaz. Former GRTgaz Deputy CEO, Olivier has held several positions in the electricity and gas industries. Graduated as a civil engineer from the French engineering school Les Ponts et Chaussées, Olivier started in engineering and economic optimisation of electrical systems at EDF, and then spent 14 years in international business development at Gaz de France then ENGIE.

From 1999 to 2004, he led negotiations to build an LNG terminal in China, to buy liquefied natural gas in Egypt, and to review the contractual relationship in France between Total and GDF. After operational experience as a gas network operator, he led the European expansion of Engie's gas infrastructure from 2007 to 2012. From 2013 to 2019, he became a member of the top3 of GRTgaz, the French and European leader in gas transmission networks, where he oversaw commercial relations, dispatching, the information system, strategy and international activities.

In 2019, Olivier joined SWEN Capital Partners and raised the first European impact fund dedicated to renewable gases. SWEN Impact Fund for Transition’s first vintage -175M€- has now been fully deployed and the second vintage currently raised €330m.

Mark Henderson

Mark Henderson

Mark is a highly experienced infrastructure finance investment banker, with experience in the renewable energy, sustainability, and power sectors. He is currently the Chief Investment Officer of GridServe, the first UK developer of subsidy free Solar PV and battery storage projects. Internationally experienced, in both emerging markets and western Europe, where he has advised on, structured, and financed over £1 billion and 3,000MW of infrastructure energy projects. Mark established and ran the mezzanine lending team for power and renewables at Investec and the cleantech & renewables sector for private equity firm LDC. Currently chair of the board of trustees and the investment committee for Pure Leapfrog, a community energy charity that provides funding and professional support for low carbon, high social impact projects. Mark is a well-known member of the London clean energy community and regular conference speaker; Mark has also been invited to write and contribute articles to several specialist financial publications.

Sir John Rose is Deputy Chairman of Rothschild Continuation Holdings and sits on the board of BW Group and the Advisory Boards of, Holdingham International; Hambro Perks Ltd.; and Protium. He is Chairman of Hambro Perks Environmental Technologies I, Chair of BW Group’s Audit Committee and Chairman of the Time and Tide Foundation which focuses on Conservation and Education in Zambia.

Jack Eastwood

Jack has 4 years’ experience working for KPMG in its Deal Advisory team in the Middle East. During this time he worked on the due diligence for the Public Investment Fund’s acquisition of a stake in ACWA Power and on KPMG Saudi’s largest project managing a public-private partnership for the Saudi Ministry of Labour. Experience at managing teams in unstructured environments, Jack lead operations at several start-ups following his return to the UK and helped them grow.

At Protium, Jack has worked across all aspects of the business and leads in the development of the company’s project financing models. He holds a Masters degree in Middle Eastern Economics and Arabic from the University of London and a Bachelors in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the University of York. Jack is a keen sailor, rugby player and enjoys travelling and photography.

Marco is an investor, adviser, developer, author and professor with 34 years’ experience in the energy sector. He founded and chairs Power Capital, a financial advisory firm which has won mandates of c. €13 billion since 1997. Marco is also a Senior Adjunct Professor of Energy, Resources and Environment at the Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies and the co-founder of Inspiratia, a UK based Energy and Infrastructure data & analysis provider.

He co-founded Infrastructure Journal (now IJ Global) in 1997. In the 1990s, he was an Executive Director of General Electric Capital’s projects group based in London, developing and investing in energy projects in the EMEA region.

Jenifer Baxter

Jenifer Baxter

Director of Innovation and Policy,& Head of Protium Wales

Dr Jenifer Baxter is the Head of Regulatory Affairs & Manager of Protium Wales. She is also the Chief Engineer at the Institution for Mechanical Engineers in London.

Jenifer has a PhD from Cardiff University examining hydrogen from waste technologies, an MSc in Sustainability, Planning and Environmental Policy and a BEng in Environmental Engineering also from Cardiff University. Jenifer is a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, IOM3 and is a Chartered Engineer and Scientist.

Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson MA FCA is the founder of Elderstreet Investments Limited, one of the UKs oldest venture capital firms and remains its executive chairman. For the past 24 years, he has specialised in raising finance and investing in the smaller companies quoted and unquoted sector, mostly in the UK tech and industrial sectors.

From 1987 until 2006, Michael was chairman of FTSE 100 company The Sage Group plc, and today he is a director of Elderstreet portfolio companies Fords Packaging Systems Limited, Macranet Limited and Access Intelligence plc.

Emma co-founded Asper in 2016 with Luigi and Luis, with whom she had worked at HgCapital since 2008. Emma has worked in investment since 1999 and in the energy sector since 2002. During her tenure at Hg she started the renewable energy business that eventually led to the raising of Hg’s renewable funds alongside Tom Murley in 2003. Emma is responsible for Asper’s investment strategy and is Chair of the Investment Committee. She leads the origination and strategic business planning on existing platforms and new investments. Over the years she has led and managed investments, financings and exits in different markets and technologies in the UK, Ireland, Germany, and Italy.

Elaine is the Co-Founder and Partner of Hydrogen Capital Partners, and HAO Capital based in Hong Kong. She has over 20 years of private equity experience in the US and Asia, and is the primary board representative from HAO Capital to its portfolio companies. She is actively involved in strategy formulation and implementation, business development, and capital market transactions. Prior to co-founding HAO Capital in 2006, Ms. Wong was a member of the Carlyle Group US Venture Partners and the Carlyle Group Asia Growth Equity partnership.

David Scott

David Scott

David is the co-founder and Chair of Tribe Impact Capital, the UK’s first dedicated Impact Wealth Manager. He believes that investing into businesses that seek to create a positive impact for all stakeholders, including society and the environment will produce superior financial returns over the medium to long term. Prior to Tribe, he founded Vestra Wealth in 2008, growing the business from zero to £16bn of assets under management at the end of 2020, when the Liechtenstein Princely family through the LGT Group bought the remaining share in LGT Vestra.

He was previously a co-founder of Scott Goodman Harris, which he sold to UBS in 2004. He is also a serial investor into early stage start ups.

Claire Perry O'Neill

Claire Perry O'Neill

Claire Perry O’Neill was the UK Government Minister responsible for Energy and Clean Growth until 2020. She wrote and implemented the UK’s Clean Growth and Green Finance Strategies, created the global Powering Past Coal Alliance, deployed £200mm of cleantech funding, negotiated the world’s first public-private Offshore Wind Sector Deal and led the UK Carbon Capture and Storage taskforce. In 2019 she brought forward the country’s ground-breaking Net Zero legislation and led the UK’s winning bid to host the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26). After leaving politics she led the Climate and Energy team at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and now co-chairs the WBCSD global Imperatives Advisory Board and has several non-executive Director and senior Advisory roles.

Claire grew up in the UK and studied Geography at Oxford University followed by an MBA at Harvard Business School. She had a transatlantic career with Bank of America, Mckinsey and Credit Suisse before entering politics. She is a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society and the UK Energy Institute and a Business Fellow at the Smith School of Enterprise and Environment at Oxford University.

Chris Jackson

Chris is the founder and CEO of Protium and the former Chairman of the UK Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Association, as well as being Chair of their Green Hydrogen Working Group. In addition to this, Chris is the co-host and co-founder of the leading hydrogen podcast, ‘Everything About Hydrogen’ and the Vice-Chair for Renewable UK’s Green Hydrogen Group. Chris originally began working on hydrogen through the World Bank, where his research helped secure the Bank’s first internal funding for Hydrogen & Fuel Cell research in over a decade. Chris has advised various governments, businesses and investors on hydrogen and other clean energy technologies.

Chris previously worked for JLT Group, within the International Network and JLT’s Energy & Marine division. He has also worked for one of the UK’s leading renewable energy project developers, as well as for Venture Capital firms both in London and Israel. He holds a Masters in Energy, Finance and Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, and a first-class BA (Honours) from the University of York.
