Company Overview

Protium Green Solutions is a UK-focused green hydrogen energy company which supports clients to reach net zero emissions across their heat, power, and mobility requirements. We are a fast-growing business, with some of the leading global voices in the emerging green hydrogen market on our team. The first pure-play hydrogen energy company in the UK, we offer a unique opportunity to learn about the possibilities and challenges of deploying green hydrogen solutions. Deeply passionate about addressing climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, our focus on green hydrogen is driven by the desire to see the UK transition rapidly towards renewable resources.

Having recently secured £40m in funding from institutional investors, the next couple of years will be an exciting time for the company and its staff. You will work on some of the most innovative decarbonisation projects that have been proposed in the UK, whilst contributing towards the country’s Net Zero emission goals. We offer regular contact time with senior management, as well as significant autonomy and authority to lead workstreams and own relationships with clients as well as suppliers.

This is the perfect opportunity for an ambitious candidate that is looking to stretch their knowledge and skills and accelerate their career path.

The Role:

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Strategy and Projects teams to support the company during a period of rapid growth. They will experience the excitement of a high growth start-up business at the forefront of innovation, with leaders in the field of hydrogen everywhere they look. The structure of the team will offer full exposure to a range of strategy and project development functions, something they would not experience in a larger organisation. This offers the chance for rapid learning and development.

The role will report into the strategy team but will work across project development, interlocking with the project team as well. Their key activities include:

- Support market research, both quantitatively via data analysis, and qualitatively, e.g., via stakeholder interviews and literature scoping;

- Create stakeholder material, communicate research results and formulate strategic positioning around the benefits of hydrogen-based decarbonisation solutions (e.g., system balancing, flexibility, energy security, etc.);

- Participate in internal strategic processes, e.g., corporate strategy development incl. mobility, digital, asset management;

- On demand, support the projects team during project development, e.g., by scoping regulatory requirements, assisting prefeasibility studies, drafting planning & permitting applications, analysing client energy data;

- Additionally, there will be opportunities to bring to the table your own ideas for business improvement;

- As with all entry-level positions, there will be smaller admin / ad hoc tasks;

There is potential for this role to move to being permanent, should the intern prove to be a great fit based on business need. Throughout the internship Protium aims to support the candidate’s professional development ambitions in filling knowledge and skills gaps. As a young and fast-growing company, we are placing an emphasis on targeted professional development.

Required Experience:

Protium values candidates who are self-starters, willing to learn quickly and can contribute to part of an exciting company in a rapidly expanding industry. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a fast-paced and challenging environment, as well as confident to put their ideas forward and challenge if required.
