Company Overview

Protium Green Solutions (Protium) is a UK Green Hydrogen Energy Company, which helps clients reach net zero emissions across their heat, power, and mobility requirements. We are a fast-growing company, with a network of partners that includes the world’s leading voices in the emerging green hydrogen market. We are a mission-oriented company. We are deeply passionate about addressing climate change and believe green hydrogen will be key to the international transition towards renewable resources.

As the first pure-play hydrogen energy company in the UK, we offer a unique opportunity to learn about the possibilities and challenges of deploying green hydrogen solutions. You will work on some of the most challenging and innovative decarbonisation projects that have been proposed in the UK (and perhaps the world), whilst contributing towards the UKʼs Net Zero emission goals.

We pride ourselves on a flat, transparent organisational structure, where all opinions and ideas are valued. We offer mentorship and guidance but also instil autonomy, whereby staff are encouraged to lead project workstreams and own relationships with clients and suppliers. All staff are provided regular contact time with senior management and the advisory board, alongside frequent lunch and learns led by industry experts.

The Role

We are looking for an ambitious Project Development Consultant to provide technical, commercial and strategic consulting with forward-thinking clients across the UK and globally. The highly strategic role will be a good fit for a multifaceted individual, who can quickly distil the technical, commercial, and policy implications of decarbonisation challenges, and design comprehensive solutions. The role will report to the Business Development Manager but also work closely with the project delivery and engineering teams. The key activities will include (but are not limited to):

- Developing opportunities and lead the performance of technical studies and pre-feasibility projects

- Engaging with organisations who initiate conversation and undertake research to assess the viability of the potential opportunity

- Developing and presenting scope of work for client engagement, often to senior managers in public and private organisations

- When developing projects, to liaise with the project delivery and engineering as necessary, to refine the scope of work

- Identifying and compiling grant applications, and responding to formal tenders

- Support the growth of the opportunity pipeline with commercial and strategic development work, and

- Representing Protium at industry-relevant events, webinars, conferences, and conveying important information and market intel with the rest of the team.

Key Requirements and Skills

The successful candidate will have a technical background coupled with highly effective communication skills; verbal, written and presentation. They must be able to understand complicated subject material but present it in a simple, understandable context for all audiences. We are looking for smart, and proactive people who can think strategically, see the bigger picture, and execute feasibility projects. The ideal candidate will further be comfortable in a fast-paced and challenging environment, someone who is not afraid to ask questions and actively put their ideas forward. Specifically, we’re looking for:

- 3-5 years’ experience in a client consulting role

- Advanced problem solving, analytical and quantification skills, including cost & benefit analysis, scenario analysis, projections etc.

- Good relationship management and interpersonal skills for establishing trust and building relationships with clients

- A willingness to learn and keen to gain greater understanding of a constantly developing energy sector

- Active interest in the renewable energy industry trends and drivers, and an awareness of climate change and the role of decarbonisation

- Self-driven and taking initiative – having the confidence to start things from scratch, run with ideas, and engage actively with other stakeholders

- Confident in delivering in front of clients

- Strong ability to multi-task and prioritise a rapidly changing workload

- Experience in renewable project development (preferred)

- Willingness to travel on short-duration national / international business trips.

Qualifications

Relevant technical degree (Engineering / science / energy) required. We look for people with deep intellectual curiosity, backed by demonstrable achievements and actionable experience. Succinctly tell us how you meet the requirements above.
