The Role:

The Principal Electrical Engineer shall report into the Engineer Team Lead. Their activities will include (but may not be limited to):

- Providing electrical engineering support in respect to grid connections, grid delivery, electrical design management and construction support across all Protium’s projects.

- Engage with suppliers and understand equipment technical specifications.

- Support in the design and optimisation of project systems.

- Electrical modelling.

- Working as technical lead managing technical aspects for a project and reporting to the Project Manager.

Experience:

Essential:

- Experience delivering technical aspects of projects as an electrical engineer.

- Working knowledge of HV/LV distribution systems including switchgears, transformers, protection and other associated equipment.

- An understanding of electrical system studies and electrical power system modelling.

- Familiarity with international grid codes and standards.

- Electrical design expertise on projects from conceptual to delivery stage, in any of the following areas:

o Solar and / or wind developments;

o Power & Industrial Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS);

o O2 compression and dehydration pre-FEED for a biomass + CCS project in the UK;

o H2 production & Utilisation: Stationary Fuel Cell CHP and H2 electrolysers, H2 refuelling stations;

o Ground Source & Water Source Heat Pumps;

o Biogas clean-up and CHP systems; and

o Heat integration and utilisation.

- Candidates must possess strong excel skills, with additional coding knowledge/VBA and Microsoft Project a bonus but not required. Knowledge of full Microsoft office suite, notably PowerPoint.

- Knowledge of Health and Safety for projects:

o Risk management and safety compliance; and

o Experience of Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies.

Preferred:

- Knowledge of electrical engineering design within the renewable energy industry, primarily in wind and solar, hydrogen and/or fuel cell technologies is an advantage.

- Knowledge of detail electrical system design using specialised calculation software such as Cymcap or similar.

- Experience in renewable project development, primarily in solar and wind, is also a significant bonus but it is not required.

- Ability to research new designs, technologies and methodologies applicable to the renewables sector.

- Creation of technical models and business cases to support decentralised renewable developments in Europe.

- Experience executing technical scopes as well as acting as a project lead.

Qualifications:

- Candidates should have a strong academic background with a BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng in Electrical Engineering or any other relevant disciplines. Candidates with additional qualification in renewable energy (especially PV) would be preferred.

- Candidates should have a 10+ years of experience.
